Thursday, November 15, 2007 Too Much Magic Bus Its everyone's favorite time--time for an update! Things keep getting more wild in Wyoming, and I love it. The holidays are coming soon, and it doesn't look like I'll be making it to the East Coast for any of them. I am going to miss feeding everyone on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I'll miss WTX and New Year's, but I just don't think I'll have the time or inclination to fly east for the winter. My Thanksgiving plans involve driving Liz to the airport and picking her up. Plus, I get to drive to Casper, WY to take my car to the shop--I found out at the last oil change appointment that the car is leaking oil, but no one in Sheridan has the diagnostic equipment to find the problem. So it's off to the VW dealership for Maybelle, and that means spending Thanksgiving night in Casper. At least Thanksgiving day will be spent with friends--I'll be hanging out at Ana's house prior to making the drive to Casper. In other news, I've been my normal busy self--lots of meetings. Things have been hopping in the City and the County, with land acquisitions, comprehensive plan workshops, traffic planning, etc; all of which directly impact my job. I've been busy scheduling work sessions with all of the government officials to explain our strategic plan so that it can be adopted as the official plan. Plus, there's one citizen that makes a point of being a pain in everyone's ass--it's fun to thwart her efforts to dig into our financial records and our plans (even though we receive some funding from the City and County, we are a private organization, and don't have to release our information for the public). Add to that a change in leadership/organizational structure in the young professionals group and all of the fun of decorating a historic mansion for Christmas, and it's busy busy busy. All good things though. In non-work and non-meeting life, let's see--I've had a consultation and have bought into the cult that is Mary Kay. No way in hell will I sell the stuff, but I do like the products. And my skin isn't reacting badly to them. It took a lot of work to get to the point of semi-clear skin, and even then it was temperamental at best. I've noticed that the Mary Kay cleanser, toner, and moisturizer are making my skin smoother and less red. The make-up doesn't feel like make-up and doesn't cause break outs; it just evens out my skin tone. And I don't have to get up any earlier to fuss with hair and make-up--it's a simple thing to do in the morning that just makes me look more polished and put together. It's definitely good for the job--I'm spending more and more time networking at work and networking in the community, so I want to look as competent as I am. (Just means I can leverage any job offers to receive additional funding.) I'm also due for a haircut and color in December--I'm taking suggestions for fun colors. I love the current cut--it's growing out well, it looks great (like I lost 10 lbs and had a nose job!), and all I have to do is blow-dry it in the morning. The stylist is no mere mortal stylist; he's a freakin' genius. I may just let him pick a random color or 5 and work his magic. It's back to work for me; I want to make sure I can get out of the office at 5 and get my ass to Happy Hour. Wyoming law--5 pm and you must have some form of alcohol in your system. Gotta love the wild west!! posted by jaime | 2:50 PM 0 comments |
