![]() Monday, August 13, 2007 Let The Packing Begin It's T minus whatever until moving time, and thus time to assess the huge pile of stuff that I have amassed over the years. I have tons of furniture, none of which I feel like dragging to Wyoming. Or storing in my parents house, as they will either destroy it or take over it. I've made my call to Bill's Other Yard Sale, who is full right now. So, locals, go shop there to make room for my stuff. Or buy my fabulous furniture direct from me. :) I also have tons of books. Perhaps too many, but none are disposable. It will require many beer boxes to pack them all; however, I did have the idea to pack the really heavy ones (Norton Anthologies, anyone?) in my suitcases with wheels. I think I can get a good number of them into the carry-on bag, which fits nicely into the big suitcase, with room for more books as insulation between the suitcases. I have my moments of brilliance. They are few and far between. I've also filled a box for Salvation Army with clothes and the toys that filled my desk drawers. That's right; my desk was filled entirely with toys. It's practical. :) Not really, so no more slinky, pet rock, Alice in Wonderland doll, Go Fish cards, etc. No more definite ill-fitting clothing, either. As I work out with Drunk Heather and lose weight, there is ill-fitting clothing, but the really bad stuff is going away. And, yes, Baldric is riding with his mom. He'll get the front passenger seat all to himself. Litter pan in the footwell, food and water in the cupholders. He'll do fine; I expect him to sleep for most of the trip, with occassional peeking out the window. He'll get his own little box for toys and treats. It's also official that I've given my notice to my employer. I got the talk from the owner today; he's surprisingly okay with me leaving the company. I think he saw it coming. No trying to talk me out of it or trying to make me stay. He also said that he was taking me out of customer care, so my last days would be happier and more fun. Woohoo!!!!! Finally, they see the light! Too late, but it's better than nothing. Even though I don't have a definite job lined up (working part-time at the winery doesn't quite cut it), I had to give my notice. I wigged out at work one day--I went in on my day off to work on a project (because my boss interrupts me every 5 minutes for stupid shit), and sure enough, interrupted me while I was trying to work on this project. About something that I had not only emailed him on once, but twice. And put the answer on the network. I went off--told him to fuck off and some other nice things. Amazingly, I was not fired. But yeah, it was definitely time to leave. I don't know what will pan out--hopefully either the Chamber of Commerce thing or the job with the city. Something will work itself out. I'm completely nervous about not having a job lined up, but it'll work itself out. It has to be better than where I'm at now; I do feel like a huge weight has been lifted in knowing that I won't be at my current job beyond September 12th. posted by jaime | 8:22 PM 3 comments |
