Sunday, April 22, 2007 Goddess of Shoes Today I decided it was time to go shoe shopping. My favorite pairs of black heels have fallen apart (one broke a heel, the other lost an insole), and I've decided that perhaps I should explore this wedge trend happening. My brother also needed some shoes--a pair of brown casual shoes and a pair of brown sandals, and Ian needed a pair of black casual shoes. I first stopped at Payless, to take advantage of the BOGO sale. I found a pair of brown leather flip-flops for Mark and a pair of black leather lace-up casual shoes for Ian. Mark's shoes were $22 and Ian's were $10 (after the 1/2 price discount). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any shoes that I liked there. Next stop was Target. I found a pair of black wedge sandals as well as pair of brown wedge sandals. I was contemplating a pair of black heels; however, I still have another pair of black heels that don't get much use. I should probably break those out of the closet instead of leaving them in there, lonely next to all the flip flops. (Yes, I live in heels at work. It means that I am a girl and don't have to move heavy furniture.) Finally, I stopped by the outlets to check out the shoes at the Bass Outlet. I found a pair of dark brown leather casual shoes for Mark. All of the shoes were 40% off, so his second pair of shoes was less than $50. I should explain that Mark is probably more of a shoe whore than I am. I have about twice as many shoes; however, Mark's shoes are much more expensive than mine. I love cheap shoes--Payless, Target, and Old Navy are preferred places for me to find shoes. I don't spend a lot of money on my shoes--I prefer sandals and flip flops, and tend to wear out shoes quickly. Mark prefers leather shoes or althetic shoes, and generally spends a minimum of $80 per pair. He doesn't keep his shoes very long, purchasing the latest shoes for each season. I didn't suprise Mark with what I picked out--he liked what I found, but I did surprise him by where I purchased the shoes. I also stopped by Bed, Bath, and Beyond--my dad's favorite chef's knife is finally kaput. After years of use and sharpening, there isn't much left to the blade and it's falling apart. Bed, Bath, and Beyond had a pair of Henckels santoku knifes on sale, and I had a coupon to use. So, I got Dad a belated birthday present and he loves them. They're nice and sharp, have a good feel in the hand, and can slice anything super-thin. Dad's already sliced up several tomatoes and onions just to test out the knives. posted by jaime | 5:20 PM 0 comments |
