![]() Tuesday, April 11, 2006 Cayman Islands More pictures...this time from the day in Grand Cayman. Captions are as follows (top to bottom): ship sailing at 7 mile beach, the cruise ships docked at Grand Cayman, the cock in Hell, another ship sailing at 7 mile beach, pirate ship, ship sailing at 7 mile beach, the rock formations in Hell, more rock formations in Hell, the Heinkein pirate ship, another regular pirate ship (4 pictures), the singing waiters, our ship in harbor, Habib's card, hatching turtle sculpture, docking at 7 mile beach, 7 mile beach, hatching turtle sculpture. We took another ferry (this one was a much smoother ride) from the boat to Georgetown, Grand Cayman. On the way there, we passed several pirate ships on display in the harbor. Once at the pier, we then went on the search for a taxi to take us to Hell and to the beach. It's always fun to wander around asking taxi drivers if they will take you to Hell, and how much they'll charge for the priviledge. :) We found our taxi to Hell and were on our way there. We passed Devil's Hangout on the way there. Once at Hell, Ian and I explored the post office, the two tourist shops, and the rock formation for which the town is named. We also peed in Hell, because the toilets were clean, and how often do you get to do that? When we left Hell, we headed for the beach. 7 mile beach is one of the longest beaches on Cayman Island, and it was gorgeous. Ian and I went swimming in the ocean, searched for shells, and were beach bums for the afternoon. On the way back to the pier, we passed the hatching turtle sculpture thing, which was too cool not to photograph. We made it back to the pier early, and so we wandered around Georgetown. We passed by the town museum, way too many duty-free shops, and found the best smoothies on the island at the Jailhouse Cafe (it was the Cayman jail converted into a restaurant). Back on the ship that evening was Italian night, with all of the singing waiters...we also took a picture of Habib's card, because it was nicer than stealing the card as a souvenier. posted by jaime | 1:50 PM 0 comments |
