Wednesday, September 28, 2005 Downward Motion I found out today that I did not get the purchasing department position. This is sad; I was very much looking for a change in my job to one that did not involve dealing with customers. The person that did get the position had previous purchasing experience, but the buyer who was doing the interviews for the purchasing position did say that she was very impressed with my resume. So much so that she was forwarding it to the VP of the company and was giving me a recommendation for any other open positions within the company. That's cool; someone from the company that I barely interact with at my job is on the lookout for a promotion for me. I am very tired of the current job right now though. Management doesn't seem to understand the difference between competence and caring. The store management is starting to crack down on our sales staff for stupid things that they do and I'm the person that has been chosen to be the enforcer of their stupid policies. Except that management forgot that I really don't care about their stupid policies. Between scheduling deliveries, entering orders, checking purchase orders against the original sales order, financing, calling people about balances, maintaining all of the reports that I need to maintain, and doing whatever odds and ends stuff they want me to, I don't have the time to nitpick over inane policies. Just a simple matter of keeping management off of my ass. In other not so good news, the London trip with Ian is not going to happen. At least not on the timeframe that we were expecting. Ian has finally been promoted to a regular position at the post office, meaning that he is no longer the postal bitch. He will only be working 40-45 hours a week instead of the 70+ he is working now. And he will get days off each week. But that put him at the bottom of the list of people waiting to use vacation time, and he's probably going to have to wait until the 1st of the year to take time off. So, no London. For now. It's also been a bad time for Maybelle; I hit a rock and blew out my tire. I got a new tire for the car and got a 4 wheel alignment, which solved that problem, but the mechanic found another problem. I'm going to need a new front axle for the car. Apparently there is some sort of part near the wheel and the axle that makes the car go. This part has developed a leak. The part can be repaired, but once it starts to leak, it starts to wear out. And it's just easier and more cost effective to replace the axle versus this part. I forget what it's called, and the mechanic says that it's not urgent, but that it should be done before the first of the year. It will be done, just not looking forward to it. Although I still haven't received a legal reason to fix my tail light. I was pulled over the other night for speeding; I could have been ticketed for having an invalid license (I still have my PA license; legally, I needed to change it over to MD within 60 days of moving back), for having a tail light out, and for speeding. The officer gave me a written warning about my speed and just told me to get my license changed. posted by jaime | 10:09 PM 0 comments |
