Sunday, February 06, 2005 The Details of My Date Are Inconsequential Heh. So, yes, I finally had my date with Jon. It was most excellent. We met up at Wonderbook in Frederick. I had been there for probably 1/2 hour to an hour before he found me wandering through the art books, basket full of other stuff in tow. We spent a lot of time there at Wonderbook--several hours--wandering around looking at different things, talking about different books and art prints. I got two translations of the Illiad, Art & Lies by Jeanette Winterson, The Joy of Cooking volumes 1 and 2, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainence, and an ettiquite book. He got Voltaire and two books by Pearl Buck and some comics (The Punisher and Superman). And I got a print of the world's ugliest woman--see link. http://www.cegur.com/Albright/Ida.html We had a great conversation about that print. It is hideous. However, I looked at it and saw myself in it. I think there are moments when we look at ourselves in the mirror and feel ugly, and that's what that print is about. I'm going to frame it, surrounded by a collage of crap shots of my friends and myself. So, we spent a ton of time at Wonderbook. Then we stopped by FrederickTowne Mall so he could get an eyeglass case. He spent Saturday morning at the eye doctor, and had to get some glasses. So we looked for a case. Wandered around the mall. Had some fun trying on some different clothes in the mall. Then we went to dinner. Went to El Paso...oh so good. However, he wanted to follow me to El Paso rather than just ride with me. Now, I'm not good with directions. And I drive Frederick by feel--I wander until I find what I'm looking for. But I had directions to get to El Paso from Wonderbook and I followed them. I can't help that none of the exits are marked until you are right there and have to cut off traffic to make the exit. After cutting off lots of traffic numerous times, we arrived in the shopping center where El Paso is located. But I couldn't manage to get to El Paso. So I stopped, flustered and frustrated and shaking after having to drive on the interstate, and made him get us there. And he did. Had a nice long dinner...such good food. More great conversation. Then afterwards, we go to head out, and we're sitting in my car talking...that lead to some quality make out time. But I kept my pants on. I behaved myself. You should all be so proud. posted by jaime | 7:08 PM 0 comments |
