![]() Friday, January 21, 2005 Ugh, Another Day, Another Disgusting Mess Today was my day to clean up yucky stuff. I was at work not more than an hour when a very panicked lady comes running in, screaming for someone to help her dog. I run outside to find a very big, very hairy dog completely limp, laying on the passenger floor of her car, head up under the dashboard. I lift the dog out of the car and carry her into the hospital. The dog was DOA. Sad. I continue about my day. About half an hour later, I brushed my hand against my leg and found slime all over my leg. Tried to wipe it off with a paper towel, but it wouldn't come off. Turns out that when I picked up the dog, it was already dead and mucus had been draining out of its mouth. And it all dripped down my leg as I carried the dog inside. Ewww. So I change pants. Put my pants in the washer. Get cleaned up. Time goes by and I went to check on my pants to see if they were dry. As I come up the hall, I notice a puddle forming outside of the bathroom door...and starting to flow down the hall. There was at one point an elderly gentleman that had gone into the bathroom but no one saw him come out. I get a mop and the only other man in the building to check on things. Turns out that the gentleman had an accident in our bathroom, resulting in the overflowing of the toilet, flooding of the bathroom, and poo everywhere. The gentleman had been embarrassed and left the building; however, his wife came in and apologized, offering to help us clean. We declined her offer, sending her home to tend to her husband. So I spent a good part of this afternoon at work trying to soak up the flood with towels, mopping the floor, plunging the toilet, and scrubbing down every fixture in the bathroom with bleach, bathroom cleaner, and Mr. Clean (not all at once), finishing the cleaning with a good spraying of Lysol. I filled two garbage bags full of towels, one full of trash, and used about half of a box of latex gloves cleaning up everything. By the time I got off work, I'd spent maybe an hour wearing my own pants, as they spent most of the day being washed and dried. posted by jaime | 7:01 PM 0 comments |
