![]() Wednesday, May 28, 2003 Kitty Heaven So, yesterday, Dr. B looked at Captain Morgan and noticed that he was sneezing and that his belly was all swollen and distended. He did a chest tap and pulled out some fluid and some fibrous mucous. He said that he thought that Captain Morgan had FIP--feline infectious peritionitis, an upper respiratory disease that causes the lungs to fill up with fluid. I took Captain Morgan in today to have Dr. H take a look. He did another chest tap, got more fluid and mucous, and also looked at the eye. The eye was completely ruptured--there was a feline herpes infection coupled with severe conjunctivitis that caused the eye to be infected and to get worse. The feline herpes was also causing the sneezing, and that would just get worse. Dr H was also pretty certain that he did have FIP, so even if he didn't have it, things were going to get worse for him. So, I had to put him to sleep. Poor little guy...only 5 weeks old and has so many bad things happening to him. At least he knew that he was loved, and he knew that I was there with him. posted by jaime | 10:42 PM 0 comments |
