![]() Thursday, December 05, 2002 Using The Phrase "Monetary Rape" In A Sentence I am absolutely livid right now. Infuriated. Pissed off. Mad. Angry. Pick a synonym. Why, you ask? Because of the general incompetence that is Home Federal Savings Bank (and fuck if I'm spelling anything correctly). They are, by far, the worst bunch of fucktards to ever have access to a vault full of other people's money. Just ask Christa or me. We'll tell you. Anyway...to the saga. On Thursday, November 28th, a check cleared my account. I apparently didn't have the funds to cover that check. However, I got paid the next day, and so, on Friday, November 29th, I went to the bank to deposit the check. I went before work, so I was at the bank before 1:20 pm. Therefore, those funds should have been available that business day. I went to work, got off work at around 8:30 pm and went home. The bank closed at 8 pm, and there was no way that I could have possibly made it to the bank after work. Everything with my account was fine, or so I thought. I got an overdraft notice in the mail today, not for the check that I know was an overdraft. It was for another check. I went to Home Federal website to check my account. I saw that on November 29th, they cleared a transaction and charged me another overdraft fee. I had my deposit at the bank that same day and it should have been available. So, I decide to pull up everything on my account from November to today's date. I saw that the deposit that I made on Friday, November 29th wasn't made available on my account until December 2nd. And that same day, December 2nd, they cleared another transaction and charged me another fucking overdraft fee. So, now I have three overdraft fees, and I know that my deposit should have been available on the 29th, meaning that two of the overdraft fees aren't valid. And with those two overdraft fees on the account, my student loan check is going to bounce. I don't know if that has happened yet or not, since Home Federal only updates account information every 2-3 days. The internet banking transaction list only went up to December 3rd. Two days that have passed aren't even listed online. Fucking slow assmunchers. So, now that I am thoroughly enraged, I call Home Federal. The cocksucking spineless corporate whore that I spoke to told me that there was nothing he could do and that I would have to go to the branch bank and show all of my papers showing that I was right. I told him that I was sick of this runaround shit, that I was snowed in, and, wow, the bank had closed due to the snow. So, no way to get this fixed today. I also said that I was going to close my account and move my money elsewhere and he said that was good for me and that Home Federal really didn't care. Well, I am frustrated and infuriated with my account. It is not my fault that the bank can't honor their own damn deposit policy, and I'm not going to pay for it. I am angry that I can't get this resolved and I have to spend my valuable time in a bank office speaking to some nitwit manager who will tell me to keep coming back to make sure that some incompetent fuck doesn't screw up when trying to fix the problem. I also decided to write a letter to Home Federal and give copies to every branch manager, the downtown office, and send a copy to corporate headquarters. What they are doing to my account is monetary rape. And I stated that in the letter. I am also sending that letter to the credit bureaus so if they try to ruin my credit over this, my proof is there for all to see. I am taking a copy of that letter with me to the branch, along with every single paper and cancelled check that I have from Home Federal. I want to shove 6 years of statements and checks and ATM receipts up their asses...making sure that they get very deep paper cuts. I am also making a copy of my timecard from work to show that I did indeed make a deposit before 2 pm, since from 1:20 pm on I was at work and my deposit slip does at least have a date on it (no timestamp though). I want them to review their security tape if necessary. I am NOT paying those fees, and I am going directly to Hagerstown Trust after meeting with Home Federal. I want a new account, at a bank that does not have a #1 priority of screwing their customers. posted by jaime | 11:15 PM 0 comments |
