White Christmas

It's shaping up to be a white Christmas here in Wyoming. It's snowing now, and although this weather is supposed to move out tonight, there should still be snow on the ground for Christmas morning. Although I'm not going to see most of the friends over Christmas, I'm still excited about the holiday this year--I managed to send out all of my Christmas cards during the appropriate season, Liz and I found and decorated a tree, and our apartment is a maze of mistletoe (because you never know when you'll need an excuse to kiss a cowboy!). Most importantly, I have good friends out here to spend the holidays with, and friends anywhere are welcome.

In other news, things out here continue to be busy, but in a good way. I've found several volunteer projects--I volunteered to help decorate and undecorate Kendrick Mansion for Christmas, which meant that I got to explore all of the rooms and artifacts while decorating. It's a fascinating place to visit, and I will be taking all Wyoming visitors to the Mansion to explore. I've also signed up to deliver Meals on Wheels through the Jaycees. Yeah, I joined the Jaycees; I'm avoiding all of the projects involving small children, as I'm not good with them. But I'm great with the elderly, so Meals on Wheels is a good project for me. I'm also involved with a young professionals group called hYPe--helping young professionals engage. This group is a lot of fun, creating and sponsoring fun activities in the community to keep young professionals involved; we're also working to retain those young workers already here and to recruit more young professionals into the area. It's a really neat organization to be involved in, as there are so many creative, good ideas to make and keep Sheridan appealing. Add to all of that, work, socializing, and meetings, and I've got a full schedule. :)

I know that I posted a while back about my foray into Mary Kay products and experiments with haircuts, so I wanted to provide an update. I went in to the salon for a trim and color--I now have coppery brown hair with golden highlights. It works in a calico cat color sort of way. I've also been using the battery of Mary Kay products on my skin, and it has made a huge difference. My skin is smooth--it's actually soft to touch. All of the bumps and texture issues are gone; most of the old scars are clearing up also. And the red undertones to my skin are starting to clear out. I'm surprised at the difference this has made, and it's definitely a good change. I'm starting to look a bit more professional and polished, which is good.
